AP World History Final Project: B

______________

(GREEN) Silk Roads
The trading wasn't directly done, it innvolved poeple traveling then trading and the trade would go down the line until it eventually reached Asia/Europe. The Mongols, Persians, Byzantines, and the Islamic Caliphates were involved in this route. Usually, traveling this route all by yourself was very hard because of all the deserts, then the snowy areas, and the mounatins, raids, etc. However, the Mongol Empire made traveling and trading eaiser because they set up stops along the way and they provided protection.

(PURPLE) Indian Ocean Trade
Monsoon winds helped sailors navigate the waters, making traveling quicker. Also the use of the astrolabe, compass, and lateen sails greatly increased the productivity of trade. This route linked Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and Jews together at major trading ports in Africa,India,China,Japan and Indonesia. Southern India was mostly dry but also had monsoon seasons (lots of floods).

(RED) Trans-Saharan Trade Routes
The region of this trade was mostly in the harsh Saharan Desert of North Africa, the terrain also included savannah grass lands and tropical forests (good for growing yams, nuts, and millet). The Sahara also had copper and salt. In the Northwestern Africa region gold salt and slaves were traded. People used carvans, camels, and oasises for stopping points. Most traveled at night to avoid the sun. The types of people involved were Muslims, Italians,Austronesians, Egyptians, and Phoenicians.

(ORANGE) Triangular Trade Route/Columbian Exchange
This Route involved slaves, poor immigrants,English,Dutch,French, and Spanish. The regions were the Carribean islands (tropical plantations), South America (tropical), Central and North America, and East Africa (dry, desert, and in a few regions tropical). Native Americans died from the diseases brought by the Eurpeans, and whole African populations were displaced because so many males were taken and enslaved. Natural soils were eroded from growing non-native crops in the Americas and Carribean islands.

(LIGHT BLUE) Mediterranean Trade
This area has a sort of dry/tropical climate that's perfect for certain crops like citrus, olives grapes, etc. During the time of this route, the Byzantine textile industry grew because of the silk worms that traveled with people from China during the Silk Roads, so Europe started making silk products. Muslims Italians, merchants and artisans traded things on this route.

(DARK BLUE) American Trade
The Mayas, Aztecs, Incas, and later Spanish conquistaors were involved. Tribes often traded spears, jewelry, hunting tools, pelts, etc. Meso America and a majority of South America were mostly tropical and had mountains, South America also had a few deserts. Incas and Aztecs hardly interacted with eachother, and Incas traded among themselves because their state didn't allow them to be independant merchants. Aztecs conquered others then collected their things.
